Homemade Easy Pizza Dough Recipe
Hiya or Buon Giorno Food Adventurers! We are traveling to Naples, which often means it’s time for pizza! Although, the traditional pizza dough is made with yeast we are featuring an easy yeast-free homemade pizza dough recipe. Considering everyone, even Gourmet Gus, loves a good pizza we wanted to bring a simple easy to make pizza dough that can go from flour to dough to oven ready pizza in minutes! Even though this is an easy pizza dough it packs the flavor and a crisp outside with that chewy inside every great pizza delivers. Additionally, pizza is the perfect place to experiment both with tradtional and non-traditional flavors.
Certainly, pepperoni is one of the most popular toppings this tomato sauce base is perfect for many vegetables and more. At our house my kids enjoy all kinds of toppings including the oh so controversial pineapple, which they love with pepperoni. Hence, this sweet, spicy, and salty combination lights up every tastebud and can truly become and adventurous favorite! Given that we all immediately think of Italy when asked about the origins of pizza dough. Surprisingly though pizza like doughs have graced many a meal in ancient civilization such as Egypt, Greece, and Rome. The Ancient Roman dish, bread topped with cheese, honey, & bay leaf, evidently where our modern pizza evolved from. Naples, Italy where modern pizza has it roots and it’s literally been baked into the pizza. A famous pizzaiolo (i.e. professional pizza maker) created Margherita Pizza using tomatoes, cheese, and basil to bake in the colors of the Italian flag.

Easy Pizza Dough Recipe with Greek Yogurt
Equipment
- 1 Mixing Bowl
- 1 Spoon or Whisk
- Measuring Cups
- 1 Rolling Pin (Or a flat wine bottle)
- 1 Baking Sheet or Pizza Stone
- 1 Pizza Peel (if using pizza stone)
- Oven Mitts
- 1 Pizza Cutter
Ingredients
- 2 Cups Bread Flour All-Purpose flour works as well
- 1 Tbsp Baking Powder
- 1/2 tsp Salt
- 1 Cup Plain Greek Yogurt
Instructions
- Baking Sheet Method: Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C) Pizza Stone Method: Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C) w/Pizza Stone In Oven
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Add the Greek yogurt to the flour mixture and stir with a spoon until it starts to come together.
- Use your hands to knead the dough for about 5 minutes, until it forms a smooth ball.
- Dust your work surface with flour and roll out the dough to your desired thickness. About ⅛" to ¼" depending on preference.
- Baking Sheet Method: Transfer the dough to a greased baking sheetPizza Stone Method: Transfer the dough to a corn meal dusted pizza peel.
- Add your favorite pizza toppings, such as tomato sauce, cheese, and vegetables.
- Baking Sheet Method: Place pizza in the oven on baking sheetPizza Stone Method: Slide pizza onto corn meal dusted pizza stone from peel
- Bake the pizza in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
- Slice and serve hot!
